Well Person Clinics

If you wish to see a nurse for a simple general check up, you are welcome.

She will check lifestyle, weight and height, blood pressure, urine for sugar and protein, lung function, and any indicated blood tests.

Smoking Clinic

We run  “stop smoking" sessions for our patients.

The Smoking Advisor may check you with a spirometer to assess lung damage.

She will give advice on the importance of stopping and the best ways.

She can prescribe nicotine replacement products and Zyban. Both these products can make withdrawal easier.

Our qualified Smoking Advisers are Larraine Coulter (Teignmouth and Chudleigh) and Louise Arscott (Bishopsteignton). Please contact the appropriate Reception to register for this service.

Tetanus

All adults who have not had a full primary course of three injections against Tetanus are advised to do so. Thereafter they are advised to have a booster injection at 10 yearly intervals (subject to a maximum of 5 routine doses).

Influenza immunization

We recommend a yearly 'flu jab' to the elderly and patients with chronic heart, lung or kidney disease and those suffering from diabetes. This includes diabetic and asthmatic children and young adults. Also, residents of nursing and rest homes are advised to have this injection. We will be holding a vaccination clinic on a Saturday 13th October 2007 at each of our three surgeries from 09:00 to 12:30.  No appointment necessary.

Pneumonia vaccination

This can be done at the same time as the flu jabs and is offered to patients with asthma, chronic chest disease and heart disease, and those over 65 years of age.

Hepatitis B

Those in certain categories of jobs need and are eligible for hepatitis B vaccination. These are usually health related jobs, doctors, nurses, ambulance, police, nursing home carers etc.  Your employer will have to pay.
