Most of these services are provided by the Practice Nurses
We have 3 practice nurses.
- They are responsible for nursing procedures such as dressings, ear syringing.
- The practice nurses will also see patients with minor illness. They will refer to a doctor if a prescription is needed. Examples of problems they can deal with are, colds, sore throats, minor childhood illness, rashes.
- Womens services, smear tests. contraception, HRT.
- Child vaccination.
- Chronic disease monitoring for diabetes, hypertension, asthma, chronic lung disease, heart disease
- Well Adults well person clinic, smoking clinic, adult vaccination.
- Health advice.
The following appointment lengths are needed -
Diabetes clinics - annual review - double.
Asthma, chronic lung disease clinic - double.
Hypertension - single.
Contraception - single.
Smear tests - double.
HRT - single.
Blood tests.
Blood tests can only be done if ordered by a doctor. The doctor will decide
which tests need doing and record the request in the notes for the phlebotomist.
ECGs
The phlebotomist does our ECGs. You will need a double booking for an ECG. This can be done at all the surgeries.
