CHANNEL VIEWS The newsletter of Channel View Surgery, Bishopsteignton Surgery, and Chudleigh Health Centre JANUARY 2010 SEVERE WEATHER During the severe weather in December and January, our staff made valiant efforts to get into work and keep the surgery functioning. We did have to alter some appointments and would like to thank patients for their understanding. Hopefully that’s the last of the snow and ice for this winter! SWINE FLU NEWS We have done our best to contact all patients who are eligible for a Swine Flu vaccination. Uptake has been variable. Swine Flu is still around so if you are eligible and need a vaccination, please telephone the surgery. To remind you, the categories are:
Individuals aged between six months and up to 65 years in the current seasonal flu vaccine clinical at-risk groups Pregnant women Household contacts of immuno-compromised individuals People aged 65 years and over in the current seasonal flu vaccine clinical at-risk groups. (Just being over 65 does not qualify you for a Swine Flu jab) Children aged over 6 months and under 5 years SEASONAL FLU If you are over 65 and have not yet had your seasonal flu jab – there’s still time. We have limited stocks of vaccine left, so phone your local surgery now for an appointment!
PRACTICE NEWS Thanks from patients
JULIE BRAVES THE SEA! On Boxing Day this year, our Administrator Julie braved the freezing weather to run into the sea for Charity. She raised £45 for the RLNI. As a member of the Teignmouth Trotters, Julie is used to running – but not into icy water. Well done Julie! Here she is emerging from the sea (and still smiling!)
